Please watch the award-winning video created by Ms. Kheang Thinasanim and Mr. Kanlack Moleevann. Their video was chosen as the number one winner in the 2024 short video competition, which had the theme: “Human Rights in Cambodia”.

This short clip focuses on the issues of human rights violations and the right to education. Additionally, the creators raise several questions to encourage viewers to think critically. These questions include: “If everyone understands human rights, why are there over 200 cases of violence in Cambodia? If everyone has the right to food and shelter, why do 4,500 children die from malnutrition each year? If people have the freedom of speech, why are hundreds of people imprisoned for simply expressing their thoughts? If everyone has the right to education, why is there still adult illiteracy?”

The video concludes with a call to action, urging everyone to work together to make human rights a reality, starting with ourselves.

The video competition 2024 is a part of “Empowering, Engaging and Protecting Human Rights Defenders (2EP-HRD)” and was organized by Transparency International Cambodia, with the financial support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID Cambodia), the European Union (European Union in Cambodia), and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Embassy of Sweden Section Office in Phnom Penh).
