Women and Youth in Leadership Programme
TI Cambodia’s Women and Youth Empowerment in Leadership Program (WYEL) is to raise awareness among women and youth on accountability, transparency and democratic governance, and empower them to engage in decision making processes. WYEL has two main objectives:
Objective 1: To increase the knowledge of women and youth on accountability, transparency, democratic governance and the importance of civic participation.
Objective 2: To build the capacity of women and youth to engage in decision making processes.
As a result of TI Cambodia’s activities, youth and women will increase their knowledge of accountability, transparency, and democratic governance. By creating spaces for learning and discussion and partnering with media to disseminate information, TI Cambodia plans to mainstream these topics to make them more easily understood and more frequently discussed by citizens, specifically women and youth. The activities will also be geared towards promoting women as decision makers, particularly as issues related to democratic governance are discussed. TI Cambodia will build on its existing networks in Phnom Penh and in its 5 regional networks to engage women and youth and ensure their participation. By utilizing existing channels, TI Cambodia can build upon those relationships to further raise awareness about accountability, transparency and democratic governance.
