Call for Participation: Youth Research Fellowship in Climate Governance
Background and objectives
Transparency International Cambodia (TI Cambodia) is a fully accredited National Chapter of Transparency International Secretariat based in Berlin, Germany. With more than 100 Chapters worldwide, we work together with all relevant stakeholders including the government, civil society organisations (CSOs), development partners (DPs), private sector, media and individuals to promote integrity and reduce corruption.
The Centre for Governance Research and Education (CGRE) at Transparency International Cambodia invites dynamic and motivated young Cambodians, under the age of 30, to participate in an exciting opportunity aimed at shaping climate governance in the country.
As part of the Climate Governance Integrity Cambodia initiative, which has been implemented by Transparency International Cambodia since October 2023, this project seeks to empower Cambodian youth to become influential advocates for climate governance integrity through the development of policy briefs. Supported by TI-S and the Waverley Street Foundation, the initiative is designed to equip participants with the essential skills and knowledge needed to produce high-quality, evidence-based policy briefs that can inform decision-makers and drive meaningful change for a more transparent and accountable climate governance system in Cambodia. Up to 10 individuals will be selected for this fellowship opportunity.
Scope of Work:
The selected youth participants will engage in the following key activities:
- Training Sessions: Attend a training on research methods, writing skills, and policy brief development
- Policy Brief Research: Conduct in-depth research on climate change governance topics under the guidance and supervision of experts, ensuring the research is rigorous and relevant.
- Publication and Dissemination: Collaborate on the publication of their final policy briefs, which will be compiled and presented as part of a booklet for wider dissemination to policymakers and stakeholders.
Recruitment Criteria:
- Cambodian citizens under the age of 30.
- Currently enrolled in or graduates from a university.
- Demonstrated interest in environmental and climate change governance issues, and public policy
- Strong communication and writing skills.
- Availability to commit to the project timeline.
- Preferences will be given to candidates from disadvantaged backgrounds, including rural young women, indigenous youth, youth with disabilities, and LGBTQI+ youth, to ensure diversity and representation within the project.
Incentives:
- Each selected youth who completes the necessary training and develops at least one policy brief will receive a cash prize of 250 USD.
- Additionally, participants will gain valuable skills, networking opportunities, and exposure through publication.
